Dr. George Zoltan Simon
Dr. George Simon, MD, MSc, FACS. Dr. George Simon is a general practitioner working in Gibraltar for the past five years. Prior to this posting he had his own surgery in Lanzarote, Spain, where he arrived in 2018 providing general and urgent care for two years.
Dr. Simon graduated in 1986 as a Physician Surgeon in the Central University of Venezuela, where he also pursued specialist training, graduating as a Specialist General Surgeon in 1991. He also holds a Masters degree in Urgent and Emergency Care from the Catholic University of Valencia (Spain).
In 1992, after having visited the R. Adams Cowley shock trauma centre in Baltimore and the Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Service Systems, Dr. Simon was one of the three
founding members of the first shock trauma unit in Venezuela at the Domingo Luciani Hospital in Caracas.
Dr. Simon initially had interests in trauma surgery and trauma care and became the nationwide Commissioner for Emergency Medical Services in Venezuela during the years 1992 through 1993.
For the next 25 years he developed a successful surgical practice in Caracas, Venezuela and served as the chief medical officer for a renown international oil company.
Dr. Simon has various qualifications in the surgical field: Minimal Incisional Surgery, Advanced Minimal Incisional Surgery, Advanced Trauma Life Support (American College of Surgeons). He also has experience in bariatric surgery and care.
Dr. Simon is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, International Fellow of SAGES, International member of IFSO and of SECO. In 2020 he relocated to Gibraltar, where he has been a General Practitioner with license and registration both with the General Medical Council in the UK and the Gibraltar Medical Registration Board, as well as the Colegio Medico de Cadiz.
Dr. Simon has special interests in prehospital emergency care and has been an advisor to various First Responder Groups in his native country of Venezuela.
Dr. Simon currently practices as a staff GP in Vithas Xanit Gibraltar.
